i have included the tow screen captures above as the display a series of thumbnails that, upon hover is covered with a semitransparent fill and a title. (what I intend to do with my thumbnails)
The image above also shows how transparent fills can be used to bring out text ontop of an image. additionally I like how the geometry has been continued with the buttons which are arrows inside round circle's.
